British National Championships

Falmouth, Cornwall – 25th May 2025 – The countdown is on! The UK’s finest paddleboarders will descend on Falmouth for the Paddle Logger Falmouth Bay Open in just two weeks.


Following its successful inauguration and a proven track record over the past three years on the GBSUP National Series calendar, this fantastic event has been chosen to host the undisputed pinnacle of the GB competitive SUP and Prone paddleboarding season.


GBSUP, the heart of competitive stand-up paddleboarding in Great Britain, is thrilled to bring the 2025 British National Championships and the crucial International Team Selections to this superb venue from 7th to 8th June 2025, at the stunning Gyllyngvase Beach.


As your host for these prestigious championships, GBSUP is committed to delivering a world-class event. With the main event rapidly approaching, we're excited to share the provisional schedule and further clarify how our national champions will be crowned and how athletes can earn their spot to represent Great Britain and England on the world stage.


Juniors Race for FREE

Supported by Paddle UK, GBSUP is passionate about nurturing the next generation of paddling talent. We're delighted to confirm that, thanks to our incredible partnership with Paddle UK, all Junior categories (U17, U14, and Nippers) will have FREE entry into the 2025 British National Championships! This is a fantastic opportunity for young athletes to experience top-level competition.




The Pinnacle of UK Paddleboarding: National Titles & International Vests on the Line!

This isn't just another race; this is where champions are made and dreams of international glory begin. GBSUP is proud to facilitate our athletes' pathway at the peak of the competitive calendar. The Paddle Logger Falmouth Bay Open will see fierce competition for:

  • British National Championship Titles: Across Distance, Technical, and Sprint disciplines in various fleets and age categories.

  • Team GB (ICF) Selection: Performances will directly influence selection for the ICF World Championships.

  • Team England (ISA) Selection: Your chance to be selected for the ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championships.


Selection Criteria Highlights: The honour of representing your nation is a significant achievement. Key points for selection consideration include:

  • Races designated for selection are the Distance, Technical, and Sprint events.

  • Athletes vying for selection must compete in the 14' Hardboard Open or Prone Paddleboard fleets. Junior athletes from the U17 age group will be considered.

  • Selection is based on the first past the post for the individual races.

  • Paddlers can choose to enter all races or focus on a specific discipline for which they seek selection.

  • (Please note: Final selection criteria are subject to confirmation and may be updated according to the published policies from Paddle UK and Surfing England, respectively.)


Exciting Updates to the Provisional Schedule!

We've listened to feedback and worked to optimise the race weekend. Here’s a look at the provisional race day structure:


Saturday, 7th June: Focus on Endurance!

  • The National Championship Distance Race will be the centrepiece, testing stamina and strategy.

  • We're also thrilled to include an AquaPaddle event, provisionally scheduled to start around 10:00 AM.

  • Junior Championship Distance events and Novice Races (Challenge Tour) will also feature.

  • The shoreline will buzz with Industry Demos, Talks, and Clinics throughout the day.


Sunday, 8th June: Speed, Agility & Power!

  • Get set for the explosive National Championship Sprint Races, showcasing raw speed and power.

  • The highly anticipated National Championship Technical Races will challenge paddlers' agility and course-reading skills.

  • Junior paddlers will also contest their Sprint and Technical championships.

  • Novice Races (Challenge Tour) continue, alongside a full day of Industry Demos and Clinics.

The Paddle Logger Falmouth Bay Open is a festival of paddling. Alongside the championship fleets, we have:

  • Challenge Tour: Perfect for those newer to racing to get a taste of the action on shorter courses.

  • Junior Nippers Events: Fun and engagement for our youngest paddlers.

  • Industry Hub: Connect with leading brands, demo the latest kit, and gain insights from expert clinics.


Stay Informed—the Buccaneer Sessions App is Mandatory! The Buccaneer Sessions App will manage all essential event updates, schedules, Race Director communications, and safety information. To stay informed, all participants must download the app and join the event "Session."
