Get ready to hit the water for Round 4 of the 2025 Black Project x GBSUP National Paddle Racing Series – the thrilling Beadnell Belta, proudly hosted by the Northern SUP Race Club! This event is a mainstay on the Northern SUP race scene and a key part of the Junior development for SUP paddling in the UK. It promises high-level competition and excitement for all participants and spectators, including categories for juniors and novice paddlers, and opportunities to try out the latest equipment from leading brands.


Venue

Beadnell Bay, often described as one of the UK's most picturesque venues, provides a stunning coastal backdrop for the fourth round of the 2025 Black Project National Paddle Racing Series. Nestled in Northumberland, the bay boasts golden sands, crystal-clear waters, and breathtaking views of the coastline and the iconic Farne Islands. Its natural beauty and sheltered conditions make it an ideal location for paddle racing, offering a safe yet challenging environment for all levels of paddlers. The event hub will be conveniently located at KA Adventure Sports, providing a welcoming and well-equipped setting for the day's activities.

Host

Northern SUP Race Club (https://www.facebook.com/northernSUPraceclub/?locale=en_GB) is dedicated to promoting and growing stand-up paddleboarding as a competitive sport in the North of England. Their mission is to create an inclusive and supportive community for paddlers of all abilities, offering opportunities for training, racing, and social events. The incredible work of the Northern SUP Race Club, led by World Championship winning paddler Anna Little, is instrumental in developing junior pathways for SUP paddling in the UK, nurturing the next generation of talent. Northern SUP Race Club is proud to continue its partnership with GBSUP to host the Beadnell Belta, aiming to deliver an exceptional experience for all participants and fans. The event is also supported by KA Adventure Sports (https://kaadventuresports.co.uk/), providing excellent local support and facilities.

Competitive Fleets:

  • 14' Hardboard

  • 14' iSUP & Starboard Airline Cup

  • Juniors (U17 & U14)

  • Prone Paddleboard (up to 14')

Novice Fleets:

  • Challenge Tour

  • Novice Juniors (Ages 8 and up)


Event Format

One Day Format: The Beadnell Belta will feature a single day of exciting SUP paddling and racing, designed for all skill levels from beginners to competitive paddlers. The day will include Technical, Distance, and Sprint races.

  • Technical Race:

    • Start/Finish: Beach start and finish.

    • Transitions: Beach transition each lap.

    • Kids Technical Race: One lap of the adult course (less than 1km).

    • Course details and specific distances for adults will be confirmed at the race briefing.

  • Distance Race:

    • Start/Finish: Beach start and finish.

    • Course details and specific distances will be confirmed at the race briefing.

    • Kids Distance Race: Up to 2km and subject to change based on entries. We will cater for all abilities, so please come and race and enjoy! Older juniors are welcome to participate in the adult race.

  • Sprints:

    • Exciting short-course races designed for speed and agility.

    • Format and distances will be confirmed at the race briefing.

Fleet Notes:

  • The Starboard Airline Cup competes as part of the 14' iSUP fleet.

  • 14' Hardboard Age Groups and Juniors (U17 & U14) ages are classified by your age at the start of the year (01/01/2025).

Start Procedures: Specific start procedures for each race will be covered in detail at the mandatory race briefings. Be prepared for staggered fleet starts where applicable.


Important Information for Competitors

  • Mandatory Kit: Leashes are required for all paddlers. Juniors under 16 must wear a full PFD vest.

  • Safety First: Our on-water safety teams will be present with safety vessels and prone rescue craft. Always follow their directions. Be prepared for the elements, stay hydrated, and plan your nutrition for a full day of racing.

  • Public Beach: As this is a public beach, please be mindful of other beach users when moving your kit.

  • Race Rules: Full race rules, including details on drafting, penalties, and appeals, can be found on our website. Mandatory briefings will cover all essential information.

We are thrilled to announce that our local beach bar, café, and restaurant, The Landing (https://northcoastcollective.co.uk/the-landing/), is proudly supporting the Beadnell Belta! The Landing, located just 100 meters from Beadnell Bay Beach, offers an extraordinary experience with knock-out breakfasts, delicious small and large plates, and a vibrant atmosphere. They are providing fantastic support for all participants, including:

  • A goodie bag for every participant!

  • Exclusive food discounts for all competitors!

Keep an eye out for "The Landing... proudly supporting..." banners around the event area this week! Their fantastic amenities will ensure everyone stays fueled and refreshed throughout the day.



Tickets and Registration

Your ticket gives you entry to the event for the specified time and activities. Upon registration, you must choose your fleet or activity and complete the relevant details. Once you have registered, you will receive your event pack, which includes details on the venue and facilities, provisional timings, and registration for the media platforms we will use throughout the event.

  • Competitive Fleets (14' HB, iSUP, Prone and Starboard Airline Cup) - £25

  • Junior Competitors - £5

  • Challenge Tour - £15

  • Novice Juniors - £5

Please note: Northern SUP Race Club will be taking entries on the day for all Novice Fleets.
